Is it permissible to have an ATM on your premises

Question

Is it permissible to have an ATM or a Bank on ones premises?

Answer

Muhtaram / Muhtaramah

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

There are two issues to this query

a)Bank as a tenant

b)ATM on ones premises
According to Shariah, it is not permissible to have a conventional bank as a tenant as one would be aiding in the sin of interest. Allah states “And do not assist in sin”.

Secondly, it is permissible to have an ATM on ones premises on condition the rental paid by the ATM company to you is not linked to the amount or number of transactions conducted on the ATM.

Question

My husband works in a company(Company A) as a Store Supervisor which sells magazines and many other things. But he does the job of the manager as the manager supervises another store and doesnot overlook the running of this one.
Sometimes the magazines haves gifts in them for the buyer (customers of company A) from advertisers. Some of the gifts are expensive or branded which normal people wouldnot be able to buy as usual. They might be hand creams, face creams, make up, nail polishes, slippers, purses etc.
If the magazine is not sold, then company A returns them to the magazine company (Company B) which destroys them and the gifts and provides its new issue to be sold.
My husband used to take these gifts out because they would be destroyed any ways or thrown away and give them to me. I would then use some and give others to my family and friends as gifts. I would not be able to buy these products for my self or my family/ friends if i ever had to.

My wife has missed fast in Ramadan

Question

My wife has missed fast in Ramadan either during pregnancy (late stages), breast feeding in its early stages or childbirth during Ramadan. If the missed fast were for valid reasons besides periods, is she allowed to give Kafara for the missed fast.

Answer

Muhtaram
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

Your wife will have to keep Qadhaa for the missed fasts, even though for valid reasons. By Kaffara we assume you mean fidya. Fidya can only be paid by one who is suffering from a condition in which he will not be able to fast again.
